Free outdoor gigs at Music in the Parks this summer
Tuesday, 1 March 2016 by Mark Sandiford
With the help of Zero Water
and Cadbury Dairy Milk, the Auckland
City Council has
brought
Music in the Parks back for
another round. This fabulous event was a huge success last year and
is proving to be bigger and better in 2016. Set to run right
through until 20th March, 26 free gigs will be spread across a
number of beautiful locations across the Auckland
region.
The line-up is
sensational and the genres are diverse. There is truly
something for everybody.
Auckland is a great place to be during summer and Music in the
Parks enriches that cool summer vibe right across the city.

Concerts you'll love, whatever you're into
Whether you're a fan of rock or opera, jazz or hip hop, country
or pop, Music in the Parks has a gig lined up to suit you.
Big
names and cutting-edge
musicians are among the brilliantly talented artists set to
grace the stages and add to Auckland's vibrant music scene. Catch
your favourite band or witness an up-and-coming artist perform
early in their career.
To give you an idea of just how diverse the gigs will be, Anthonie
Tonnon, Benny
Tipene, Tami
Neilson, Shihad,
and the New
Zealand Opera are among the outstanding line-up.
The best part of all: it's free.
With nothing to lose, it's the perfect time to try something
different. Discovering a love for a new music genre is great for
opening your mind and expanding on your music collection.

Make the most of the long days and warm nights
Those beautiful summer evenings don't last forever, so why not
make the most of them while they're here? Bring a blanket, pack a
picnic and settle in to watch some of the best talent New Zealand
has to offer.
There are too many months between summers. We all love to spend
the daylight hours doing something we really enjoy because once
winter's here, we tuck ourselves away indoors and wait for the
summer sun to reappear. We are generally
happier in the summer and seem to have more energy than we do
in the winter. The long days and warm nights give us more time to
enjoy the things we love and there's nothing quite like heading to
a free outdoor gig to make the most of that fresh summer air.

It's what summer is all about
Spare time is valuable, and summer is about seeking the best way
to spend it. We get out more, we socialise more, and we catch up
with people we've probably been meaning to see all year.
Music in the Parks lets you do all of that.
Serving up 26 gigs from some of the country's best artists, you
are bound to find a time, place and act that suits you.

Catch a movie while you're at it
With the cool tunes come some hot flicks. Every Friday and
Saturday night until March 26, various outdoor locations across the
Auckland region will screen some of our favourite movies at Movies in the Parks.
The classics are all there; Ghostbusters, Jurassic Park and The
Lion King to name a few.
Check out the guide for dates, times and locations.
So pack your popcorn and roll out the picnic blankets, the free
entertainment just got even better.
